Mental Performance Consultant
Based in Ottawa, Chantale is the Founder and Mental Performance Director of Elysian Insight, a company dedicated to mental performance consulting for athletes, artists, and business leaders. A registered professional member of the CSPA, she has a wealth of experience working with a broad range of athletes and artists of various disciplines, ages and competitive ranking. Feeling equally at ease working with children, adolescents, and adults, her clients have ranged from grassroots levels all the way through to elite performers.
Following a 12-year career in the performing arts as a dancer (stage, tv, and film), choreographer, teacher, and artistic director, her passionate interest in movement, health, and sport sciences brought her to the University of Winnipeg where she completed a B.A. (honors) in Psychology with a major in Kinesiology, and to the University of Ottawa for an M.A. (human kinetics) in Mental Performance. She then completed her doctorate degree in the Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa, where she was awarded a Social Sciences and Humanities Doctoral Fellowship Research Award towards her research at the 2008 Canada Dance Festival.
For over a decade now, Chantale has dedicated herself to working with provincial and national competitive, elite, and pro athletes in Manitoba and Ontario in a variety of sports and artistic contexts. Notably, she has recently worked with the NHL’s Ottawa Senators Hockey Club as well as with Hockey Canada’s Women’s National Team Program, working with the 2012 & 2013 IIHF U18 world champion Canadian Women’s National Hockey Teams. She has also worked extensively with dancers, consulting for the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School’s Professional Division (2002-2004), and the Pre-Professional Ballet Program and the Professional Contemporary Dance program at The School of Dance (2005-present). Chantale has also worked as a researcher for the Department of National Defense and has consulted with various employees in the private and public sector, including military personnel, police, and firefighters.
A cancer survivor, Chantale is an avid outdoorswoman, who enjoys a wide array of seasonal physical activities as a way of enjoying a creative and healthy lifestyle. Chantale sees clients at The Sports Medicine Centre & The School of Dance in Ottawa (Ontario, Canada) and travels frequently for public speaking events, group workshops, and to support her clients at national and international sporting events.
